Our guide book had indicated there was three mountains you can go up around Lake Lucerne. All were very expensive to go up even compared to the Jungfrau area. We decided to go up Mount Rigi as it had more walking opportunities. We had the choice of two funicular railways, one from Goldau and the other from Vitznau. We chose Vitznau as the trains were slightly more frequent. The train station was a bit disorganised and busy. We took the train up to Rigi Kulm at 1797m and then found a path down to Rigi Kiƶsterli and then a path to Rigi Kaltbad to catch the train back to Vitznau.
