The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

When it rains it rains in Switzerland. The day after our trip up Niederhorn it rained solidly for the whole of the day. The next day it was cloudy and grey but the forecast was for showers so we decided we would had to the Ballenberg open air museum at Brienz. This open air museum has more than one hundred centuries-old buildings from all over Switzerland. It is an architectural stroll around Switzerland.

We were able to duck into the buildings when it rained heavy. There was an interesting array of buildings some housing little museums about Swiss music, crafts etc. One house showed off the changes in the pharmaceutical industry, another showed a modern conversion of an old farmhouse to meet today’s needs. The site was so vast so we only really touched the surface but it made use of a grey and damp day.
