We explored along the north shore of Thunsee (Lake Thun) today and then into Thun after which the lake is named. Thun had a charming old town dominated by Schloss Thun with its many turrets which gave it a fairy-tale feel. The castle was once owned by Duke Berchtold V a member of the Swiss powerful Zahringen family.

The old town had an attractive riverfront which we enjoyed strolling and at the old Untere Schleusenbruke, a covered wooden bridge we watched crazy water skies testing their skills against the torrential water flow below the bridge. Completely mad!

After a steep climb to the castle which had great views of the lake and Alps we enjoyed a cool drink in a café on the Rathausplatz before exploring the lakeshore further.
