Today we made our first trip up into the mountains to Schynige Platte a 1967m plateau. To get to Schynige Platte we took the late 19th century cog-wheel train from Wilderwill. The trains travel 7.26km to the plateau at a maximum speed of 10km/h. It was a great ride up.

At the top the views were magnificent. We decided to walk the 2 ½ hour Panoramaweg. The trail was well maintained and we were surrounded by so many different alpine flowers and great views of the surrounding mountains and views down onto the two lakes of Thunsee and Brienzersee.

A first class walk and an excellent start to our time in Switzerland.
