Today we headed in the direction of Luzern over the Brunigpass, alongside Lungerer See and Sarner See to find the road to get to Stockalp and the cable car to Melchsee Frutt. It was also a test to see if the road was suitable to take the motorhome on to move north in Switzerland. Although buses and lorries used the road it was narrow, very steep in places and twisted and turned all over the place. A road that took a lot of concentration even in a car so it looks as if we will leave Interlaken and head north via Bern.
We stopped at a view point overlooking Lungerer See before finding the road to Stockalp. We were surprised how many buildings we found up at Melchsee Frutt. It was a natural ski bowl so not surprising.
We enjoyed a lovely walk from Melchsee to Tannensee lake on well-maintained paths and great views of the surrounding mountains. We watched for a while as a helicopter flew in path maintenance supplies – took a lot of skill and is a standard way of moving in supplies to repair trails. Where ever you walk in Switzerland unless at the very high levels you find cows. With Daisy we are always a little cautious but so far we have never had any problems and today was no exception.
It was a lovely area to walk on a beautiful day.
