Big enough to stand alone

I may be small

But I get bigger

Today was planned to be a boring drive from Virgin, Utah to Page, Arizona for a one night stay. Nothing could be further from what actually occurred than that statement. The entire drive followed a two lane road, not to be confused with a two lane hi way. The entire drive had mountains, valleys, multicolored rocks and even some trees. We didn't even realize that National Monuments would be in our path, but Vermilion Cliffs and Grand Staircase are National Monuments as beautiful as anything we've yet seen and worthy of preservation. At the end of our journey we entered Glen Canyon National Recreation Area which includes Lake Powell, another man made wonder. As I look over the campground I see rock formations of all colors, sizes, shapes and textures.

Needless to say, our one night stay has been extended to two and would be longer if not for the AC repair appointment. We have nothing planned for tomorrow morning, but the afternoon is a tour of Antelope Canyon on the Navajo Reservation with a Navajo guide. If it is half as lovely as the pictures we've seen, words won't be able to describe it. Don't worry daughters it's not a hike. They have a big truck for our bottoms to sit in.
