At weekends the Lulworth artillery ranges are open for walking. During the week they are used for tank and artillery training so it a must to keep to the designated and well marked paths. We were able to walk the coastal path around Kimmeridge Bay to West Lulworth. Here the coast stone is dark shale completely different to the chalk and limestone further along the coast.

The coastal path passes close to the deserted village of Tyneham where village residents were evicted by the army in 1943 and they were never able to return.

Passed the village you get views of Worbarrrow Bay and the start of chalk in the cliffs.
