We had visited Corfe Castle earlier in our stay so now we visited the more recent Banke’s family home, Kingston Lacy. From after the English Civil War the Bankes moved their family residence to Kingston Lacy. The house and contents remained within the family until on the death Henry John Ralph Bankes in 1981it was bequeathed to the National Trust, its largest bequest.
We first explored the grounds seeing the house from different angles. Visiting the interior of the house we discovered an amazing collection of fine arts and antiquities built up over the years by various generations of the Banke’s. The keys of Corfe Castle were also on display.
