We were looking very forward to Quito and seeing our friends Meredith and Cooper from who came all the way from Philadelphia so that we could spend the next 2 weeks together.
We arrived after a lovely evening spent at the Lima Country Club Hotel, a suprise from Jonathan as it was our 2nd anniversary (time is flying!) We are staying at the Cafe Cultura, which, funnily enough is owned by a Hungarian guy. It was great to see them and we had a great evening of catching up at about 100 miles an hour!
Unfortunately, it wouldn't last as both Meredith and I were unable to go anywhere the next day due to slight illness..... a bit of a wash, but we managed to go to the old town the following day and see many of the main sights including the Monastary and the The Basilica which has a spectacular view over Quito.
We decided at the last minute to head up to the Northern Highlands for a few days before we head off to the Galapagos at the end of the week. So, after a final dinner (this time for Cooper and Meredith's anniversary) at Boco de Lobo, and lots of storytelling about fellow diners, we said goodbye to Quito for a short time - Jonathan and I will be back here for a week after the Galapagos for another week of Spanish.
