On the Road with Tom and Gloria travel blog

Time for a new car! After putting 160,000 very interesting miles on my 2008 Saturn Vue, everything seems to be going at the same time. Last summer I invested $2000 in the car because I love driving it. This trip, however, has convinced me that it's time to look for something else.

Up until now it was the little things - the visor won't stay up, the washer jet doesn't work on the back window, the seat fabric is wearing out - etc. Now I seem to feel a difference in the transmission, the washer on the windshield just stopped working and today - on a very challenging drive in the rain - the defroster decided to quit on me. I had to keep wiping the window with paper towels to see clearly.

Despite it all, I arrived safely and Spencer met me at the door with a big hug.

I quickly found my RX for blood work I needed to have done at Beaumont Hospital and took care of that immediately. Spencer and Owen had plans for this evening ( which I knew of ahead of time) so I had a chance to do laundry and get organized. Colin gave me stuff to bring to Owen ( as if my car wasn't packed to the hilt already) so I felt like one of the Beverly Hillbillies going down the road. I'll be glad to get to Owen tomorrow and unload!
