We spent three days in Austin. It is a fairly cool city, not like your stereotypical idea of what Texas might be. First day we dropped in and saw Julie, Joe and baby Tully. She is certainly a charmer (see pictures). We went swimming at a locol swimming hole that is fed by a spring and was huge (everything's bigger in Texas) and very refreshing. that night we sat in their backyard and had a bonfire and told stupid jokes and stories.
Next day was slow. We slept in and didn't get anything done all day. We went out to dinner and then went to watch the bats come out at sunset. Austin has the world's largest urban bat colony living right under a bridge downtown. They come out at dusk to feed, at least they are suppose to. This night they waited till about it got to dark to see them well. It was still fun.
Third day we went to Shlitterbahn, a texas huge waterpark down by San Antonio. That was a blast. We spent a very long entire day there and had a really good time.
I think Rachel is getting a little burned out with all the traveling. I'm going to try and get back to NJ in 2 days. Back on the road this morning, next stop Memphis.
SHLITTERBAHN!!!!! it was awesome!!! the funniest part was when a little kid got caught in the current of boogie bahn and his pants went down to his ankles! He was stuck immobilized in th current with his pants down!!then he couldnt get them back up!!
