Arrived in Auckland safe and sound on the 15th December. We'd been warned by almost everyone we've met that we wouldn't like Auckland...we both loved the place. It's not like a typical English city, Downtown Auckland's about the size of Reading. But it's great, loads to do and loads of people to meet and our hostel was right next to a 'massage parlour' called lipstick...nice. We've now invested some of our hard-earned cash on a campervan called 'Bon' (not sure why that's his name, the people who had him before were from Israel) and we've set off around the North Island. It's really remote but the beaches we seem to always end up at are really nice, no cook islands but nice all the same. One of the beaches was a 'hot beach'. We had to dig a hole in the sand when the tide was out and hey presto, a hot spring to sit in! We've walked for miles and seen about as much countryside as you could ever want. Seen Maoris and Giant Trees and rolling hills from 'the shire'. We're off to the more populated parts of the country now.
Anyway, willupdate with more stuff after the festive period!
Take care and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
PS To those who surf, it's WICKED here but just as bloody cold as England!!
