The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

After another day of heavy rain we decided to dodge the rain and visit Hay-on-Wye and then explore the remote Vale of Ewyas.

Hay-on-Wye is a small town famous for its second hand book shops and was a nice town to just wander around.

From there were took a narrow country road through the remote Vale of Ewyas. We came out onto open moors at Hay Bluff with on a good day would have given panoramic views but with the rain and mist the views were limited. However there were some lovely Welsh ponies with their foals.

From there we twisted our way down the valley through Capel-y-ffin to Llanthony where we stopped to look at the remains of the Llanthony Priory which was constructed in the late 12th century. By this time the weather had changed for the worst so we headed back to base.

Who would believe it was summer!
