Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

(Ron Writing) We left Death Valley Monday morning and drove to Pahrump, NV. Our mail was at the post office waiting for us and we spent much of the afternoon going through it. Friends John and Wally were also in Pahrump and we got together for a delicious dinner of BBQ baby back ribs.

Tuesday morning we drove to Las Vegas to do some shopping and restock the pantry after almost two weeks in Death Valley. On Wednesday Elena spent some time at a Border’s while I did some work on the computer etc. We left Las Vegas Wednesday PM and drove south on highway 93 to Kingman, AZ where we spent the night. This morning we continued southeast on highway 93 and arrived at the Escapees North Ranch RV Park in Congress, AZ early this afternoon.

Looking back at our journal I noticed that we arrived at North Ranch on this same exact date last year! Everything looks about the same except that the campground is much fuller than when we arrived the past couple years. The host told us they are expecting the campground to be at capacity in January when an Escapees Boot Camp (“school” for new RVers) to be held here end of January. I wonder if the increased occupancy this year has anything to do with the high price of gold – many RVers who stay here are amateur prospectors.

We decided to stay in a boondocking site for a few nights. Our plan is to leave here on Monday but leave the rig here for about a week while we are visiting relatives during the Thanksgiving holiday. The rig can stay parked in this boondock spot right beside our friends Don & Camilla and they can keep an eye on things while we are gone.

The weather has been beautiful the past few days and is very nice here at North Ranch also.
