According to our guide book we could visit another aqueduct near Chirk which was built alongside the rail line viaduct and by walking the canal towpath you are able to walk from Wales into England.

Our walk started by the rail station and took us immediately through the 1200ft (421m) Chirk canal tunnel- it was rather dark and a little eerie particularly when you see a light and hear the gentle throb a narrow boat coming through the tunnel. Immediately we came out on to the Chirk Aqueduct, which is 70ft high so not as scary as the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, and walked over the aqueduct above the Ceirog River. We continued along the towpath into England. On a sunny morning it was a lovely walk.

Our second stop of the day was the lovely Chirk Castle which sits on a mound with magnificent views. As usual we walked the estate around the castle first before exploring the stunning gardens and then the house.
