We were off duty for 4 days and decided to go camping in the tent. It will be a one night shake down trip as we haven't used our tent camping gear since our trip to the White Rim in Oct 2012. We found this great camp site along Mammoth Creek a week ago and wanted to enjoy a relaxing day next to the river. It was a good thing we went for one day. The rain fly on our REI tent had a big rip in it. Probably from UV rays when we had it set up all summer in Colorado a couple of summers ago. The chance of afternoon monsoon rain passed and we slept out under the stars. What a night sky up there! Poor Len woke up two times though during the night with a deflated inflatable mattress. Guess what we are having to purchase. We called REI to see if we could get a replacement rain fly and were told it would have to be custom made and would cost almost as much as a new tent. We are fair weather tenters, so the duct tape will be applied to the rip at least until we get back home. It was a little dusty because of the ATV's going up and down the road, but being next to the river was awesome and sooo relaxing. What a great night sleep it made listening to the water flowing over the rocks. It was a great couple of days off.
