Neil and Laura's 2005 Adventure travel blog

Picked up a hire car and drove home.

Well, as they say, That's All Folks.

We've had a fabulous time - definitely the trip of a lifetime - and we hope you've enjoyed keeping up with our adventures on this web site.

In the 106 days since we left home we reckon we've had about six days when it has rained - which is pretty phenomenal. The weather gods have definitely been on our side.

We've taken nine flights covering almost 28,500 miles. We drove about 3000 miles in each of New Zealand and Australia and covered about 750 miles by bullet train in Japan. We sailed on two ferries and a yacht and covered plenty of miles on foot, bus and tram. So a pretty comprehensive selection of transport - although we seem to have missed out cycling for some reason.

We've stayed and eaten in some fantastic places - and even cooked for ourselves from time to time (but not many!) - and consumed our fare share of decent plonk, but much to our amazement we've come back weighing exactly what we did when we set off !

But now it's back to reality .... until the next time.
