Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

(Elena Writing) We awoke to another beautiful morning. The sun was shining bright and the air was crisp and clear. After eating breakfast and visiting with some fishermen, we started preparing for our departure.

We headed south on CA-41 to Coarsegold and stopped at the Chukchansi Resort & Casino, where we stayed about two weeks ago. While walking to the casino to have their lunch buffet, we noticed that the Central California Blood Center was having a blood drive in the parking lot. I had noticed that they had a spinning wheel indicating the various items you could win after donating blood. During our lunch I told Ron that I would donate blood if I could win the small teddy bear. He said that I should think about saving someone’s life...what a true statement that was. Because I have a weak stomach just at the thought of relaxing in a chair with the blood dripping I have never, in my life, donated blood. I thought of not only saving someone’s life but what if I needed blood for some reason. For the first time, I donated blood and felt very happy that I did it. There was nothing to it! Ron won the teddy bear and I won a wind breaker.
