This has to have been one of the most wonderful weeks of the trip so far:) The weather was fabulous, the accomodation was out of this world and Kris, Tracey and Mimi were amazing - spoiling us rotten all week:)
The journey from Malacca was V.quick and comfortable, arriving in Singapore though was a big culture shock - to be in civilisation again after a month of squatting was pure bliss. It is true this has to be the cleanest place we have ever been, its definitley one for the girls - the shops are HUGE and more like centres then department stores.
Despite this we only briefly walked along the Orchard Road upon arrival as it is V.V.expensive and to be honest if we had not had relatives to stay with this would have been a one night stop over!!!
Thanks to the massive luxurious swimming pool which we were able to laze around daily we did not do much sight seeing during the day in Singapore. On the 2nd night we took a boat up and down the river and Kris gave us running commentary much better than any tour guide could have. We ate in a open air Sea Food market (i ofcourse stuck to the satay which was yum) and drank in a lovely bar by the river. After realising the cocktails were $15 (a fiver) a go we opted for cheap bottles of wine from then on!!!
The easiest way to travel in Singapore is by Taxi and they are suprisingly cheap due in part we think to supply and demand!!! On the 3rd night we decided to go and see Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith and it only cost $6 (2 quid)!!!! If you have not been to see it yet you must is all i'm going to say about this!!
On Friday we made it to Singapores infamous night safari, via bus and train. The metro here is really something else - not one piece of graffiti or litter insight. There is a $500 fine for drinking/eating on the tube and guess who got on with a coke float!!!
The night zoo was coolish and indeed different but its a shame all of the animals are asleep!!! We did get to play with a large and baby snake (after much persuasion from the bag) and had pics taken with baby leopard and owl - the excitement mounts, chortle chortle!!!
All in all we had a fantabulous time (Kris and Tracey we really can't thank you enough) and it was topped off by a Sunday Roast with Yorkshires by the river on Sunday:)
See pics:)
On to Perth where a large reality check is in order, its all budget hostels, self catering and work for the next 8 months ahhhhhhh!!!
