getting to know the locals

puerto vallarta

It turns out travelling by bus in Mexico isn't hat bad afterall. We travelled for four hours between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta in the most fancy bus I've ever seen. There were only three seats across (instead of four) and they folded all the way out which made for a very pleasant and comfortable journey.

Of course, as soon as we arrived in Puerto Vallarta we hit the beach (after spending six months in a Canadian ski resort, Zoe and I were dying to feel some sun on our skin). We lay our towels out on the sand and spread ourselves out in the hope of gaining a bit of colour. This became a bit of a ritual during the rest of our stay so by the time we left Puerto Vallarta a few days later, Zoe and I were getting quite brown.

Aside from lazing about, Zoe and I went on a cruise to a few surrounding islands. It started off as a very calm day but a hens party was on board and their party attitude along with the open bar caused things to turn a little crazy by the end of the day. We sang and we danced and had a marvelous time. I think the highlight of our day though, would have to be watching a pod of dolphins swim along side the boat, diving in and out of the water. It was amazing.
