Camping anyone?

This is the Visitors Center at Grand Mesa.

Before going to bed last night we realized the floor in front of our shower was wet. While we were at Wendy's indulging in their chili last night there was a hard driving downpour. The bathroom vent was open and even with a cover the driving rain managed to make it's way into the bathroom. We haven't used the RV shower (the RV parks have showers) and the floor was dry around the toilet so lets hope that was the cause.

We woke up to SUNSHINE! We decided take a drive and explore Grand Mesa National Forest. Elevation is over 10000 feet and it is quite a climb. The ski slopes are closed for the season and there was just a small amount of snow on the slopes. However, after leaving the ski area and driving higher we found snow. Lots of snow! The roads were clear except for one area where the snow had slid onto one side of the roadway and make it narrow to share with another car.

Campgrounds here don't open till July 1. You will be able to see why in the pictures. The visitors center was still covered with snow.

The Clifton area and the Valleys around Grand Mesa are full of orchards and wineries. It would be fun to be here when all the fruit is in season.
