Am writing this in a rush as it is late at night and I am not quite finished packing for my trip to the Channel Islands tomorrow morning. Taken loads of time to transfer my photos to Barbara's computer and then to DVD. Oh for my Mac! . Don't want to sound ungrateful Barb!
Anyway have had a lovely time catching up with everyone here. Got back from Edinburgh and Glasgow yesterday - interesting cities with loads of history and great architecture especially the buildings designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in Glasgow. Pity about the weather though - wet and cold and windy. You've just got to love the Scottish summer - 16degrees and windy and everyone is saying what a great day it is! Mind you the rest of the UK seems to be experiencing the same with more to promised.
Doesn't sound too promising for my 2 weeks walking holiday on Guernsey and Jersey starting tomorrow..
When people have been telling me at home that Australia is more expensive than the UK I didn't believe them but now do. Perhaps it has something to do with the current strength of our $ but certainly food, clothing, eating out and it appears housing are less expensive. Things seem depressed especially in Scotland. Give me our weather and way of life any day.
I've also noticed that there are so many more smokers here than at home or in New York and even Peru and Ecuador.
John and Arthur were here last week and it was good to catch up with them. They are now in Paris
Have had 4 sessions with an oesteopath for my back and the referred pain in my leg and it has improved remarkably. Hope it stays that way.
I hear that Julia refuses to meet the Dalai Lama - is she trying to outdo Howard?
Must fly - hopefully more news next time
