Successfully managed to cross the boarder into Argentina on Monday and arrived into the historic capital of Argentina, Salta. Salta has a much more European feel and this was certainly a welcome relief after Bolivia. In Salta I spent a quiet few days recovering from the many night journeys of last week and eating my fair share of delicious steaks.
On Wednesday I flew to the Iguazu waterfalls via Buenos Aires the waterfalls are located between the Argentina-Brazil borders and are also apparently the largest waterfall in the world. I spent the first day visiting the falls from the Argentine side they are an amazing site and well worth the journey to go and see them. There are over 250 separate waterfalls but unfortunately some of these waterfalls had dried up as the falls have had very little rainfall recently. However, the main and most powerful waterfall to visit known as the Garganta del Diablo was still very much in full flow. The photos do not do it justice as it is amazing site and the amount of water that goes through it is incredible. On the second day I crossed the boarder into Brazil and visited the falls from their side. I also did a helicopter ride over the waterfall this was a really exciting experience and gave an incredible perspective of how large the falls are.
On Saturday morning I flew back into Buenos Aires in time to see the Boca Juniors play Independite at the Boca Stadium, (Diego Maradona's old team who was also at the game). This is one of the most important games of the season and is a bit like Arsenal v Chelsea in England. The game was incredible the atmosphere must be one of the best in any sporting event in the world, 50 thousand fans just have a huge party whilst the game goes on. It makes English games seem very quiet and reserved by their standards.
Today, Sunday is my last day and I have been visiting as many places in Buenos Aires as I can. It is a brilliant city and well worth coming back to particularly as I am now a Boca Juniors fan.
I have had an amazing time in South America but I feel ready to come home and will look forward to catching up with everyone when I arrive back into England on Tuesday morning.
I hope you have enjoyed following my travels and that I have not made you to jealous.
