We decided to have one of our drive and explore days exploring the coast north of Kungshamn with no real destination in mind. We found some lovely little gems.

Our first stop was the small village of Hunnebostrand. Although small it had three harbours and a really beautiful location. We really loved the village.

We then went round the Bottnafjord which juts quite a way inland. Again just perfect.

We then noticed an historic marker just outside Hamburgsund. We discovered the ruins of a medieval castle high on the hill above the village and learnt the history of an old Norwegian King. The views from the hill across the coast were again brilliant.

We continued and came to the popular village of Fjallbacka. Although the village was not much compared to the others we had seen it had a really good viewpoint high above the village. To get to the viewpoint we had to walk through a narrow canyon called Kunssklyftan which had four huge granite rocks suspended in the crevice. Help! Climbing higher to the Vetteberget or viewpoint was a good cardiac workout. The views across the rocky islands were magnificent. We continued along the trail across the hill before returning to village and the car. Time had gone on and it was now late afternoon –time to return to base but we had really enjoyed the day.
