This Shingle forest fire is turning into quite a big deal around here. It has grown from 500 acres to 5400 acres at the last update on utahfireinfo.gov, and is said to be 0% contained. Fortunately for us the wind is taking it away from us and we are in no immediate danger from it. Last we heard it is now heading toward Bryce Canyon. We'll keep you posted.

Yesterday we got as close to it as they would allow. We had hoped to get closer, but they were on to us and wouldn't let it happen. As we got closer we found more and more ATV's out and about trying to do the same thing we were. They probably had a better shot it than we did because they know the area.

We're putting together our quick evacuation plan just in case it's required. Don't want to lose the Dutch Star, and have no intention to let that happen. We'll be out of here at the first sign of any serious threat anywhere close to us, but currently that looks very unlikely.

We ran into another of those special places yesterday called Aspen Mirror Lake. Very nice as you'll see by the pictures, and very close to the fire.

Stay tuned
