Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

Our friend Dot cooked up some delicious spicy Italian sausage with veggies...

Before I could get my camera this horse and rider had already...

The bison in the ring really wants to get back with his...

It was fun to watch them work.

There were about 13 bison in the corrals.

There was also a mechanical steer in one corral but they weren't...

These horses are taking it pretty easy between workouts.

Later the trainer was working with a horse in this smaller round...

He was able to get the horse to run, stop, change directions,...

During my walk in downtown Wickenburg I noticed this very unusual sight.

A cactus growing on the side of a palm tree! How does...

(Ron Writing) Yesterday I hooked the trailer to the new hitch on the truck and made a few adjustments to get the trailer to set level when hitched and also adjusted the weight distribution system to transfer the proper amount of hitch weight from the rear truck axle to the front axle of the truck and to the trailer axles. I pulled the trailer from the campsite to a paved street here in North Ranch to do this setup and then drove the rig a few miles to Congress and back just to make sure it handled properly.

Today I took the truck to the Chevy dealer in Wickenburg. They flushed and changed the coolant, flushed the transmission and refilled it with the Amsoil I had ordered last week, and also changed the oil in the transfer case.

While I was waiting for the mechanics to finish working on the truck I enjoyed watching some guys training horses at a facility just south of the dealership. They were training a horse to cut cattle but to do this they use bison! They do this because the bison can handle the rigors of this job much better than cattle. The bison are very quick and can really give the horse a workout.

When the truck was finished I went to the barber shop for a haircut. While waiting for the barber to get back from lunch I walked around town and looked in some of the stores.

The weather was very nice today but there is rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
