KAPOORS ON THE ROAD
While we thought we might we flying into the new airport in Beijing and found we weren’t, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our All Nippon Airlines (ANA) flight took us into the new Haneda airport just outside of Tokyo. I’ve never been a fan of the Narita airport and was pleased with didn’t have to fly in there this time. It seems that most of the flights for Japan Airlines and ANA now use Haneda, and other international carriers land in Narita.
The best thing about the new airport was the shower facilities in the lounge. We didn’t have a very long layover, but we were each allowed to use a private shower facility for up to twenty minutes and it was so refreshing after our two previous flights, and in preparation for the long one that would take us over the Pacific to Vancouver.
I was also really impressed with the food on offer in the lounge, there seemed to be something for almost everyone from different parts of the world. I’d never seen anything like it. Japanese dishes of course, but also Middle Eastern, European, Chinese and North American staples like burgers, pizza and a wide variety of fresh salads. I gave a pass on the desserts, but they looked amazing too!
