San Antonio Sunset

Our friends told us that if we ever got to Texas to be sure and visit San Antonio. We did the tourist thing and visited the Alamo and then the River Walk. The Alamo is interesting and means a great deal to Texas. It means a little more to me now too. I was checking out the names of those who died defending the Alamo and the name William E. Sutherland is included in the list......so now I have another name to research when I get back to checking out my family history. It would be kinda cool to be a decendent ya know?

After the Alamo, we headed over to The River Walk where they built all these restaurants, hotels and shops right on the edge of the San Antonio River. We had a nice dinner and explored some of the shops and took a tour boat ride to learn more about the history of the area. The best time to visit would be December at night......all the lights lit-up along the river make it absolutely beautiful. We couldn't stick around long enough to see it, but perhaps we will visit again someday and hopefully during the month of December.
