Old Boys Big Band

Mosso Lake

View from Himmelbjerget

Tower at the summit of Himmelbjerget

Mads the manager at the campground had told us about a small music festival taking place at the village of Vrads just 6km away from the campground. He recommended a group called the Old Boys Big Band who were performing at one o’clock on Sunday. After a lazy morning we decided to go and see them on our way out for a walk in the Lake District. They were excellent. Daisy was very good while we sat and watched them until she saw a cat run through the tent. Fortunately she didn’t bark.

We then made our way towards Ry and found a walk up a hill called Sukkertoppen which gave us great views over the Mosso Lake and we only met one other couple.

From there we decided to one of the highest points in Denmark and a well known landmark called Himmelbjerget or Sky Mountain at a massive 147metres. You could tell it was a Sunday afternoon as there was a lot of people around and you had to pay for parking. The short walk to the summit did give you some good views across the surrounding area. Leaving the crowds behind we decided to walk down to lakeshore and then found a well marked path through the forest (where we met no one) back to the car.
