Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

Here is "Andy" out in the lobby greeting people.

Andy Williams

A couple photos of the stage.

(Ron Writing) We had beautiful weather. We spent the day at home catching up on some work and planning the next leg of our travels. John helped me grease one of the bulbs in the truck’s running lights. Did you know light bulbs work better after they’ve been greased?

Elena made some delicious fish stew using some of the cod we brought back from Newfoundland and she also baked a banana crunch cake which we enjoyed this evening.

This evening we (John and Elena & I) went to the Andy Williams Christmas Show at the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre. They had the opening performance of their Christmas show last night. Tonight it looked like the 2,054 seat theater was about filled to capacity.

Andy still sounds very good. The voice isn’t quite as smooth as it was 50 years ago but for a guy that’s almost 82 he’s pretty amazing. Andy sang many of the old familiar Christmas songs and also several new songs. He was backed up by a 10-piece band and several singers and dancers. There were also several other performers sprinkled in throughout the 1 hr and 45 minute show with no intermission. All three of us really enjoyed the show.

Tonight’s trivia: Andy was born in Wall Lake, IA (about 100 miles from my home town) on Dec. 3, 1927. He started singing in a quartet with his 3 older brothers when he was 8 years old. He has 18 gold and 3 platinum albums.
