N C Capitol Building

The highways in Virginia are so different from the highways in Tennessee or North Carolina. Today's drive was lush green - the other two states were loaded with redbuds, dogwoods, forsythia and azaleas.

I took my time leaving the hotel this morning. I cut my schedule and only stopped at the capitol building in Raleigh. The Governor has an office there but the rest of the 1840 building is really a museum and looks pretty much the way it would have in the Civil War Period. The Legislative branch meets in a building down the street. There is so much more to see in North Carolina - will have to come back.

I arrived in Richmond at 4pm and went straight to the hotel. I took advantage of the free light supper on the concierge floor ( for Marriott elite members) so I didn't have to leave the building. I've been resting since and feel so much better. Ironically, the better I feel the worse I look. I now have two black eyes and a bruised cheek. Good grief!
