Heading down the mountain leaving Mesa Verde National Park

Crossing into New Mexico

Notice our road conditions not the best but they did improve going...

But the views were amazing

Ahh Arizona

Amazing park in the middle very open ranges

Heading into the state park

On the morning of Sunday October 7th, we departed Mesa Verde National Park, taking our time down the steep twisty grade within the park, heading for Gallup New Mexico for an overnight stop. Due to some of the weather forecasts, we decided to cancel our stop in Gallup NM and continue on to Winslow AZ to the Homolovi Ruins State Park. We ran into some windy conditions along the way as we headed south from the Cortez CO area toward Gallup NM.

We fueled up in Gallup then continued west to Winslow AZ, arriving at Homolovi Ruins State Park at about 3 p.m. This is yet another very very nice state park. We had a pull through site with 50 amp electrical service, and water hook up. The park is located just off I40 and it lets you experience the culture of the Hopi Tribe while camping, hiking or biking and enjoying gorgeous sunsets at an elevation of about 4,900 feet.

Just an over night stop, next stop is the Grand Canyon!
