The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

After a few days of windy and unsettled weather we headed east to explore the area around Quinto do Lago and Vilamoura. Quinto do Logo is a very upmarket resort area which felt a bit like Hilton Head in North Carolina. The main interest in the area was not only the golf courses but the Praia do Ancao which sits at the western end of the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa.

We enjoyed a delightful walk along the inland waterways behind the beach. Daisy was fascinated by the very small birds wading in the marsh. We were also privileged to see the rare to Portugal, Purple Swampen. Returning back along the path we almost got by the tide coming in- our path had almost disappeared. We then made our way across a rather impressive wooden bridge to the beach so Daisy could have her now obligatory romp on the sand.

Time had flown. By the time we got back to the car it was mid afternoon so we then drove to Vilamoura to have a look at the marina before heading back to base. There were a few small boats!
