Hanoi

Hoh Chi Minh Mausoleum

We arrived back in Hanoi via the night train from Sapa around 4AM and walked to the Red River Hotel, where we had to bang on the door till they woke up and opened. Luckily we called yesterday to warn them we were gonna need a room this early. After sleeping a few hours in the hotel, Jamie and I hurried over to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to witness uncle Ho's body preserved in a glass coffin. Didn't he want to be cremated?! We rushed through Ho's house on stilts, the One Pillar Pagoda, and Palaca without our cameras because we forgot to pick them up at the right place when we got out of the Mausoleum(you aren't allowed to take pics of Uncle Ho). Rushing through like this was very frustrating for me because this is one of the main places in the city that I was looking forward to. That and I caught a bad head cold from my trek in Sapa.

Later in the afternoon, Jamie and I finally booked a Halong Bay Junk Cruise for the next 3 days. Wandering through the streets of the old quarter, I happened into some dvd stores and got a bunch of boot legs for under $1 a piece(SHH!) Mom and Dad you have plenty of new movies to watch at home when I get back! Had a great Vietnamese street dish for dinner, Ban Cha.
