The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

We left Lisbon and headed south. Between Lisbon and the Algarve region there were very few campgrounds and the ones that existed were far off the main roads –not for us. So it was going to be a long drive to the Algarve – 170 miles to Lagos.

On our travels through Portugal we had seen very few other campers/motorhomes- often being one of at most five. We arrived at our chosen campground in Lagos and found loads of Brits, some Netherlanders and Germans in the campground. Everyone was in the Algarve! As we walked around the campground we wondered if we would find a spot, not because there wasn’t any spaces but either trees, size of the pitch or access was the problem. We eventually found a pitch big enough in their deluxe pitches (full hook-up) which with a little manoeuvring we got into. We were not the only Big Rig in the park. There was at least three 5th wheels a couple of older American motorhomes and a more modern Damon Ultrasport. However because of our full body paint we did stand out once again.

We had debated whether we would change bases within the Algarve but decided this campground would suit us to explore the area.
