|We left Grand Junction with everyone trying to talk us into staying longer. Even though we wanted to be there for July 4, we needed to head for home.
The drive east was beautiful. The road ran along the Colorado River, then the Eagle River. Some of the hills near Vail and Denver were sloooow to climb. There were a couple of tunnels along the route. We crossed the Continental Divide in one of the longest.
After passing through Denver the land flattens out. There was nothing but mile after mile of farms, growing wheat, barley and some corn. Sounds like bread and beer territory.
