Crossing Over the 7 Mile Confederation Bridge to P.E.I

Gordon Belsher

We left the campground at 9 AM. Janet and Lowell aren't going any further with us. Her back is really hurting her and she wants to get to her doctor. We went over and said a quick good-by before we headed out.

We crossed over the Confederation 7 Mile Bridge and onto Prince Edward Island at 1:15 PM. As we crossed the bridge, Buz, being a military airplane pilot, told the tradition of being immersed in water before you became a pilot and after you flew your last flight. He then thanked the Wagonmaster and the Tail-ender for leading all of us through this journey and to all the new friends that they have met. Then he played some of the marching band music that was played at the Tattoo yesterday. It was a nice time to reflect on all the good times we have had on this caravan and the friendships we have made. It doesn't cost anything to cross over to the island but we will have to pay when we leave the island. We drove 198 miles to our campground.

We all gathered at the pavilion at 4 PM. Rod had arranged for us to be entertained by Gordon Belsher, who is a well-known singer of folk songs in Canada and who lives on Prince Edward Island. He has performed for many important dignitaries visiting Canada. William and Kate were visiting Prince Edward Island last year and Gordon performed for them the day before he came and performed for Yankee RV. We all enjoyed the music and after the entertainment, Gordon and his wife stayed for pizza that Yankee RV provided.
