The Mill is just a 10 minute walk from where we are moored.

There were 5 or 6 Paper mills in this area at one time - the reason being that there is a good source of underground water here which is required for the making of good quality paper.

There's been a mill at this site since 1300. in 1803 the world's first commercial papermaking machine was installed. They still make paper but in small quantities and usually special orders.

They make paper with all sorts of different additives - including Koala Poo, Rhino poo and Elephant poo, seeds and petals,

They had their own fire brigade (just members of the mill purpose trained)

During the (almost 2 hour) tour they showed how to make hand made paper and 2 young girls were thrilled to be taking home a sheet of paper they had made.

Another great glimpse into the days of old.
