A city park in Sarasota

View from the park.

Another with all the hotels on the islands.

Small Pelican cannot get in the water.

One of many very large hotels.

Diana enjoying the view.

This is the first thing you see when the road curves along...

A tourist had to get in the picture.

Lots of yachts and fishing boats.

Cleaning the fish and feeding a bunch of Pelicans.

We drove through this full lot and a guy backed out in...

Also lots of people and cars.

Found a crafts and art show i a memorial park.

The story.

Those 4 Owls are all alive. Just hanging out.

Now on Lido Key. More bumper to bumper traffic. No parking.

Can you believe twice in one day. Another pull out. We ate...

The story of the circle.

A major go-round.

The center park.

A little window shopping.

After all it is Florida. Thats a mailbox.

Driving along Longboat Key.

Another beach town.

Leaving the islands.

Sarasota on the left and Lido Key on the right.

We took Friday as a down day and sat around, read books and did some shopping in Sun City. Then Sat. we headed down the road to Sarasota. The mistake was to wait until the weekend. probably should have done it on Fri. We passed a city park driving through town that just called us in. Spent a little time there and continued down to the shore. Did we mention a lot of hotels previously? Well there is more here and they are all huge and building more.

The wharf and parks were full. Decided to try one parking lot and got lucky. Walked along the wharf and found an Arts and Craft Fair in the park.

Decided to leave the crowd and head for the islands again. First thing you come to across the bridge is Lido Key and its Go-Round park designed and built by the Ringling's of the circus fame. Did we say, get away from the crowd? It was bumper to bumper and not a parking place to be found. Well, we got lucky again and had a guy wanting out right next to us. Thank You.

We ate at the Surf Shack right next to where we park. We had a Shrimp Burger, A blacken Mahi Taco and Thai Peanut Shrimp Skillet. It was all very good, but the cole slaw was terrible. Then we walked around and window shopped. That's all we could afford. the T-shirts were around $40 each. Looked at real estate and a 1100sf condo with 2 bedrooms was $500,000.

We decided to continue up the islands. We ran into another Draw Bridge. After waiting for the bridge we ran into stop and go traffic another 5 miles up the road. Lots of people out exploring the islands just like us. We caught the next bridge back unto the mainland and headed home.
