One of the smaller pipe bands

The Kelpies, Falkirk

Stirling Castle

Winding down after a long, hot day

We walked down to the Princess Gardens this morning as I’d read about the Pipe Band Championships being on. We sat for around an hour listening to the different bands, all ages and from different areas. Quite surreal, sitting at the base of Edinburgh Castle, and the weather was beautiful.

We then drove half an hour to the Kelpies, an architectural structure which was fantastic. From there we drove another half an hour to Stirling Castle. We both agreed that this was the best castle we’d been to so far as there were actors throughout the castle either explaining the history, playing musical instruments etc.

We arrived in Glasgow around five and walked into town. The temps were around 25 degrees today, a heatwave for the locals, lots of pink Glaswegians out in the sun with their wobbly boots on as there are pop up bars all through the centre of town and I think some folk had spent a fair bit of their day drinking. Of course we joined in the festivities....
