Mandy and Jon's Journey 2005 travel blog

These lovely musician were awake (at 2:30 am) and ready to greet...

I didn't sleep a wink in the eight hours from LA to Papeete. I am tired when we de-plane while the plane refuels and some guy vaccuums the thing. The Tahitian airport is cool, though. We are greeted by these guitar players who look how I feel, there is a tropical garden in the transit lounge, and after the security guards confiscate the nice fork I "relieved" from the airplane I was rewarded with the most comfortable airport couches I have ever seen. Deep brown leather sofas scatter the waiting area and I use the hour and a half layover to catch a few z's. The inside of my eyelids and a New Zealand red-wine induced dream is the bulk of my experience in Tahiti. I'm pretty sure Mandy was going to leave me there sleeping when I refused to wake after several attempts on her part.

Boy, did they have nice couches.
