Checking things out

Eleven, do you see them all?

After spending 9 wonderful days with our friends Jim & Cheryl, today was our last morning with them. We drove 18 miles out highway 184 to Mancos for breakfast. We had heard that Absolute Bakery & Cafe was a must. What a beautiful drive thru farming country. Summit Lake is off of this road. This is a favorite place for the locals to fish. Mesa Verde is visible all along the way.

Things made at the Absolute Bakery & Cafe are organic and homemade. Jim and Len had sourdough flapjacks. Very hearty and tasty. Their homemade bread/toast just begged for a little butter and jam. Good stuff! I had a southwest strudel which consisted of red potatoes, scrambled eggs, ham, onions & green chiles wrapped in a pastry shell and smothered in green chili sauce. OMG! I would return for just that. We had a quick look around town and then headed back to Dolores RV Park as we had to be out by 11 and I still had towels to dry and I was in the process of defrosting the refrigerator.

Upon arriving at our new campsite here in Mavresso we put the hummingbird feeder out. They just swarmed. I was right there with the camera. Here are some of my first attempts in catching these flighty little birds. It requires patience, lighting, timing and I think luck in getting shots. I'll keep trying and share my attempts.
