We are currently tucked in a lovely site at McKinney Falls State Park in Austin, TX. So far this week we have enjoyed gorgeous weather, fun company, and lovely walks and outings.

On the way from Kerrville to here we stopped at Buc-ee's for lunch. I really appreciate their clean restrooms, fun food selections (yes... my weight suffered this week due to Beaver Nuggets), and easy access parking. Buc-ee's is a "Texas Thang" and not to be missed when traveling through this area.

On Tuesday we (Willis, Bruce, Mary Sue and I) all went to Central Market for some "foodie" shopping and lunch. It was Bruce's and Mary Sue's first time there. If you've never been to Central Market and are in the area I suggest a stop to this food store. The variety of produce, breads, cheeses, meats, wines... etc. etc. etc.... is WONDERFUL! Once again my waistline suffered for this trip, but the foodie in me could not resist.

Yesterday, Bruce and Mary Sue took me along with them to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. It is a pretty place to stroll around and learn the names of the many wildflowers we have been spotting on our drives and here at the state park.

Today Willis is at the LBJ Presidential Library while Blayde and I stay home and catch up on a few things here at the park. I have been to this presidential library on more than one occasion but it is Willis' first time.

One of the activities I have been engaged in is trying to capture a picture of the painted bunting couple who are living in the nearby trees. They are petite birds and such "flitters" that I can't seem to catch them with my camera. When I don't have my camera in hand they hop around on the grass right outside our front door, however, once I grab my camera in an attempt to photograph them they fly up to the surrounding trees and grace me with only their songs and no visual. I am convinced they continue to sing to me from the trees to let me know they are still there but are hiding from my camera.

At any rate, we are very much enjoying our stay, visiting, walks and surroundings here at McKinney Falls State Park. Now... off I go to sit outside with my camera... maybe those little birds will have mercy on me today.

Happy Travels,

Rebecca
