The bird sanctuary

Holyrood Castle, Edinburgh

Edinburgh

We drove down the coast today to Edinburgh. Was a slow journey as we stopped off at a bird sanctuary to spot the elusive puffins. Walked around an unfenced clifftop and were just about ready to leave as there were thousands of gulls and all sorts of other birds but no puffins - then PJ spotted one. Just one. But at least we saw one :)

Arrived in Edinburgh about 3.30pm then had to navigate our way into the middle of town as our hotel happens to be right smack bang in the centre of the Royal Mile - cobblestone streets, about 500m from Edinburgh Castle. Amazing. We have spent the afternoon/evening walking the streets and for the small bit we’ve seen have both agreed Edinburgh is just wonderful. We love it.
