All packed and ready to go at 7am and we arrived at the airport before the staff so we could have enjoyed another half hour sleep. The flight was at 8:40am and at least today the sun was up before us!

The flight to Perth took us back across the centre and desolation and salt lakes seemed to go on forever.

The flight was about 3 and a quarter hours and the bags were checked through to Hong Kong so we didn't have to worry about them yet.

Having arrived in Perth we arranged a transfer into the city and an afternoon cruise on the Swan River to Fremantle.

Fremantle seemed a very ancient port and we were able to see several of the sights including the old prison, Victorian railway station and old Town Hall. The High street had some lovely old fashioned trellis wrought iron balconies and we enjoyed wandering round.

It was always going to be a long day so as the shops all shut at 5:30 we have found this internet cafe and updated the journal.

After this we'll have dinner and have arranged a transfer back to the airport at 9pm

Hopefully we'll find somewhere in Hong Kong to write the penultimate chapter of this long epistle.
