Lens Travels - Living our Dreams! travel blog

This morning Nancy and I had the difficult, but necessary task of taking Packwood to the vet where they put him to sleep. He has been a wonderful loving pet who brought much joy and love into both of our lives and he will be missed greatly. He was our traveling partner and buddy, and he adapted easily to traveling with us in the Dutch Star. He seemed to be a very happy camper. Soon after Nancy and I got together he decided that I was OK, and since then I've become more attached to him than I ever have to a pet in my life, and he to me. Very sad time right now.

Packwood was a rescue kitty from the town of Packwood, WA near the foothills of Mt. Rainer. He was 11 1/2 years old, and as many minx cats do, he had an increasing problem with bowel movements as he got older, to the point where even with the help of all available medicine he was in constant discomfort and/or pain and unable to relieve himself without help. Nancy and I couldn't stand to watch him in that kind of discomfort and did what we had to do this morning.

He was a special part of our family and losing him was, and still is, very upsetting and emotional for both of us.

Tomorrow morning early we hit the road without our traveling buddy heading toward S.W. Colorado. We plan to be on the road for about 3 months and will begin posting regularly again.

Stay tuned.....
