We spent an additional day in Rochester parked in Larry's sister driveway before heading west toward home, across South Dakota. It was very foggy and turned to heavy rain through most of Minnesota.

We drove to Mitchell, South Dakota and decided to stop for the day. For all of you that never heard of it, Mitchell is the home of the "Corn Palace". It just happen to be Corn Palace Fest. The streets were blocked off for vendors and carnival rides. We parked the motorhome nearby and walked through the carnival. The Corn Palace wasn't open for tourist. It is undergoing renovation.

The Corn Palace was built in the 1920's and is decorated crop art. The murals and designs covering the building is made from corn and other grains. It serves as a venue for concerts and other events. It's a popular tourist event.

We left there and drove over to Walmart to see if there were any motorhomes parked for the night. We saw several and decided we would join them. By nightfall the parking lot looked liked a RV park. A very heavy thunderstorm came through around midnight. We were a little nervous, especially after checking out the radar on line. All was good and the sun came out as expected in the morning.
