In the USA 2016 travel blog

We were about an hour and a half from Miami airport, so we decided to stop off at a place called the Flamingo Garden – a sanctuary for rescued birds and other animals.

And of course, give us pretty pink flamingos and we take hundreds of photos. (Only a couple for your viewing pleasure).

Ms Garmin Mark II did a reasonable job in getting us around Florida, well, at least until we had to return our rental car to the airport. She kept insisting on taking us across grasslands to get onto the freeway. Fortunately, the hotel man had said that we should see signs for rental returns if we took 12th Street. So, we took 12th Street. Ms Garmin Mark II didn’t even mention it.

Anyway, this rental return was far less confusing and scary than the one in LA. Phew.

A word of advice: If you are planning on travelling through the US and you think your GPS knows what it is doing, think again. Have a plan B.

That’s it for our driving here. Tomorrow we fly to Washington DC for a few days, then we head to New York. After that, home.

Our countdown is pretty much in line with the countdown to the USA election. We fly out the day before and land the day after. I guess that means we’ll find out when you do!
