Our last stop in Asia is quite a different place than any other Asia country we've been to. Singapore is such a technologically advanced hub; it seems to reach new levels of convenience and technological sophistication. Everything from flat panel advertisements throughout light rail stations, the endless 6+ story shopping malls, and the glitz and glamour of Orchard Rd, Singapore seems to have it all.

The hard part about Singapore for us is that it was back to the reality of a budget. It makes us value each penny and we can't live like kings anymore. But we were still able to take in a lot during our 4 days in Singapore. Since we didn't get a rainforest safari in on the trip we decided to visit the Singapore Zoo. Here they have tried to bring you close to all the animals, much closer than we are used to. Most fences are gone and were replaced with small moats or glass. We were so close to jaguars we were afraid they would jump over the moat to eat us! They did a great job of trying to maintain the rainforest setting where we felt as though we were on a safari rather than in the zoo. We enjoyed watching elephants chase birds out of their territory along with baboon feedings. We went to Sentosa Island, a manmade paradise a few minutes from the mainland. They had a laser light fountains show that was quite amazing. The Fountain of Wealth is supposed to bring fortune to us by circling it three times with the right hand in the water. We are hoping it brings budget expansion to us!!!

Before leaving Singapore we had a little taste of home by visiting the movie theater to see Flightplan. After the movie, we enjoyed a Singapore Sling at the famous Raffles Hotel where it was invented in the Long Bar. Next was more drinks at Father Flannagans before our overnight flight to Australia. Singapore is a beautiful city and a shopper's paradise.
