Tony got gold stars for his driving skills today.
We left Porthmadog to head south to New Quay in the Ceredigion area of Wales, our base for the next two weeks.
We had been advised not to take the A487 from Dolgellau to Machynlleth although a main road had sharp bends and stone walls on either side and also the bridge just outside Machynlleth was a tight turn for big vehicles. We took the slightly longer route, the A470, to Machynlleth. This had some interesting moments with a 12% descent down a mountain pass which was spectacular but Tony had to concentrate hard.
From Machynlleth we rejoined the A487 along the coast through Furnace which had a tight bridge, around Aberystwyth where there was a 16% incline just outside New Quay. The road was good and wide in places but at other times narrow so Tony again had to concentrate.
We arrived safely to the campground and were allocated a lovely pitch right in the corner which was easy to get into although a little sloping.
We were both tired after our journey.
